We work with everything from puppy basics—like house training, biting, and jumping—to more complex challenges such as reactivity, fear, anxiety, and leash manners. Whether it’s a brand-new puppy or an adult rescue, we’ll create a plan tailored to your dog’s needs.

Training is offered in your home and out in the real world around Gilbert, Chandler, Queen Creek, Mesa, and nearby East Valley areas.

Every dog is unique, but many guardians notice positive changes after the first few sessions. Lasting results come from consistency, practice, and teamwork—we’ll give you the tools and support to keep progress going between lessons.

We do have a few group classes periodically throughout the year for our clients only, in small classes of 4 to ensure some individual attention within each class.  These classes work on obedience, Canine Good Citizen, puppy manners, leash skills, and public access.

Just your dog, a few favorite treats, and a willingness to learn together! At your first session, we’ll talk through your goals, observe your dog, and create a custom training plan that fits your lifestyle.

Owner and certified professional dog trainer providing positive dog training in Gilbert AZ

Meet the Founder

Julie Davis, CPDT-KA, FDM, ABCSDT

I’m Julie Davis, a certified professional dog trainer specializing in positive, science-based training methods. My company is insured and licensed and as a veteran and female business owner, I proudly serve Gilbert, Mesa, Chandler, and Queen Creek Arizona, and the East Valley community through Kaleidoscope Dog Services.

My credentials include certifications from the Certification Council of Professional Dog Trainers (CPDT-KA), Family Dog Mediation (FDM), and Animal Behavior College (ABCSDT), along with a professional dog training certificate from AZ Dog Smart Academy. I’m also an AKC CGC Evaluator, a member of the Pet Professional Guild, and certified in canine first aid and CPR. For multiple years, I’ve been recognized as a top trainer on Sniffspot. I have also been recognized by BusinessRate for over 3 years as Best of Gilbert and #1 Dog Trainer in Gilbert for over 2 years in the category of Dog Trainer.

My Journey to Kaleidoscope Dog Services

I founded Kaleidoscope Dog Services in 2020 after a lifelong journey with animals that began long before I ever considered becoming a professional dog trainer.

Dogs have truly been part of my life from the very beginning. My earliest memories involve dogs, but my formal training journey started when I was just nine years old, working with my Collie through 4-H. That experience sparked a love for learning how dogs think, communicate, and learn—something that continues to shape my work today.

Before launching Kaleidoscope Dog Services, I spent many years as a business professional specializing in product, process, and operational improvement. I’m also a veteran, a wife, an entrepreneur, and a proud guardian to two spirited terriers. My background includes a bachelor’s degree in communication and Associate of Applied Science degrees in Veterinary Science and Equine Science. I also spent years developing expertise in process improvement and business operations, which now helps me run a thoughtful, organized training practice for my clients.

The turning point in my career came from my own dog.

Years ago, I welcomed a young terrier named Hondo into my life. Despite all my past experience with animals, I found myself struggling to help him with some of his behaviors. I did what many guardians do—I reached out to local trainers for guidance.

One trainer suggested using an electronic collar. I trusted the recommendation at first, but when I saw the impact, it was having on Hondo, it didn’t sit right with me. Something inside me said there had to be a better way.

That moment changed everything.

I dove into research and began learning about science-based, reward-based training methods that focus on teaching dogs what to do while protecting their emotional wellbeing. The more I learned, the more I realized this approach aligned with the relationship I wanted with my dogs.

Eventually, I made a decision that surprised many people around me:

I left my secure and well-paid corporate career and went back to school full-time to become a professional reward-based dog trainer.

My goal wasn’t just to help my own dogs—I wanted to help other guardians who, like me, simply wanted to understand their dogs better and build a positive relationship with them.

My journey in the dog world has also included working with organizations like Pilot Dogs, where I raised and trained a guide dog puppy and later trained dogs for the program in my twenties. Experiences like this deepened my respect for the incredible partnership that can exist between dogs and humans.

Today, Kaleidoscope Dog Services reflects everything I’ve learned along the way—combining science-based training, compassion, and practical support for real-life dog guardians.

My learning never stops.

The field of animal behavior is constantly evolving, and I remain deeply committed to continuing my education alongside an incredible community of animal behaviorists, veterinarians, trainers, welfare advocates, colleagues, and of course the dogs and guardians I’m privileged to work with every day.

Helping people experience the joy, confidence, and connection that comes from understanding their dogs is what drives me.

Dogs have always been part of my life, and it’s my honor to help others discover just how meaningful that relationship can be.
