Every client and dog relationship is unique!
Every client and dog relationship is unique!
NOTE: This program is for smaller dog breeds ONLY and under 35 pounds.
You started out on a walk with your dog. You look up and down the sidewalk, around every corner to make sure no one is coming. Oh no, you see someone coming down the sidewalk, you turn and hurry away so your dog does not start barking and lunging at the end of the leash. You have a leash reactive dog.
I understand your frustration and challenges! I too, have two leash reactive dogs, each with different motivations on why they are reactive. The struggle is real and I am ready to help!!
My dog's leash reactivity has:
"I just want to be able to have a pleasant walk with my dog."
This behavior can occur for a number of reasons. It is important to understand if you have a reactive dog or an overexcited dog and then work on understanding the motivation behind the behavior (fear, excitement, past trauma, etc...), behavior modification, including counter conditioning and desensitization training approaches based upon the reason for the behavior. Julie will evaluate your dog and create a customized training plan for your unique situation.
Both of these behaviors take lots of time, commitment and patience to modify. There is no quick fix but with time, patience and working with your dog, you will be able to have those walks where you can say, "wow, what a great walk that was, good dog!" If you are ready to get started, I will be right by your side the entire journey!
What clients are saying
" From our very first session, Julie demonstrated a deep understanding of dog behavior and tailored the training approach to fit my dogs specific needs and preferences. The positive reinforcement and enrichment techniques are not only effective but also strengthened the bond between me and my dog. She was patient with me too. Learned how to properly implement the tools is not always intuitive and takes time and practice to build confidence to use them correctly."
" Julie provided hands-on training in our weekly sessions. She explained the psychology behind the instruction, demonstrated the techniques for me, and gave me feedback on my training so I could get it right. Her knowledge and experience were a huge boost to my confidence—now I know what I’m doing and how to continue even after our sessions have ended. As a result of working with her, my dog is much less reactive, easier to redirect, and on his way to being comfortable around other dogs. I’m very grateful for her help."
Let's get started today, it's time to build your relationship with your dog.
Reactivity training starts with private lessons at your home to build foundational behaviors to help you and your dog work through what is making your dog reactive or overexcited.
Julie starts all reactive dogs with at least an 8 or 10 session package at 45 minutes each. Reactivity is a long term process that includes counter conditioning and desensitization to change the emotional response in your dog.
After private lessons and depending upon the changes in the dog's responses when exposed to other dogs and people, you may also get your dog into one of Julie's group classes (i.e. Impulse Control, Leash Reactivity) that will take the concepts in private training and help your dog be able to practice what they have learned in a safe space where they will get to see other dogs and people and continue to work on their response and skills.
We have group class packages of 6 and 12 sessions.
